Dietary counseling and medical management.
Specialty ServicesConstipation affects up to 30% of children at some point. While it's usually not serious, chronic constipation can cause significant discomfort, affect appetite, and interfere with toilet training.
Fewer than 3 bowel movements per week, hard or pellet-like stools, straining or pain during bowel movements, abdominal pain or bloating, soiling accidents in toilet-trained children (encopresis), and avoidance of the toilet.
We start with dietary modifications — increasing fiber-rich foods (fruits, vegetables, whole grains), adequate fluid intake, and establishing regular toilet time routines. When dietary changes aren't sufficient, we may recommend safe, age-appropriate medications like Miralax.
For children experiencing toilet training difficulties related to constipation, we provide behavioral strategies including scheduled sitting times after meals, positive reinforcement, and reducing anxiety around toileting. We work with families to create a gradual, pressure-free approach.
Same-day and same-week appointments available at all 9 locations.
